Service Technician

Purpose | |||
To service, repair, and install commercial and domestic air-conditioning systems in accordance with product specifications and other relevant procedures and work requirements. | |||
Responsibilities | |||
· Maintain a high level of customer service to further enhance Daikin’s reputation. · Comply, at all times, with all relevant WHS requirements. · Ensure vehicles and job sites are safe, clean, and tidy · Maintain all tools clean and tidy, ensuring that power tools are tested and tagged, and measuring tools are calibrated, as per applicable schedules. · Ensure that Refrigerants and Oxy-Acetylene is handled and stored as per applicable regulations and requirements. · Diagnose HVAC system performance through testing and observation, as per applicable service manuals. · Generate repair cost estimates as per Daikin procedure, for customer approval. · Repair or service units to ensure efficient operation. If required, recommend further action such as replacement of units or accessories. · Where required, liaise with dealers, end users, and contractors to ensure satisfactory resolution of issues. · Provide detailed explanation of service charges and work performed, if chargeable, and collect relevant payment. · Complete admin work in accordance with procedures and work instructions. · Maintain accurate service records and documentation within ServiceMax to ensure operational transparency. · Manage the procurement and allocation of parts to meet service requirements. · Maintain all equipment service records · Provide direct supervision of Daikin apprentices, if applicable, in accordance with the Apprentice Supervision Policy. · Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation as scheduled | |||

Key Competencies | |||
Technical Competencies · System Fault Finding: Expertise in using a systematic approach to diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in residential and commercial HVAC units. · Root Cause Analysis: Ability to use testing tools (multimeters, manometers, etc.) to identify why a component failed, preventing repeat issues. · Electrical Systems: Skilled in troubleshooting low and high-voltage circuits, contactors, capacitors, motors, and control boards. · Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO): Strict adherence to electrical safety procedures to ensure a zero-harm work environment. · Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of local building codes, mechanical codes, and manufacturer-specific installation requirements.

Non-Technical Competencies · Customer Interaction: Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers in a clear, polite, and reassuring manner. · Diagnostic Logic: Using a structured, step-by-step approach to identify the root cause of a system failure rather than just treating the symptoms. · Time Management: Managing a daily schedule of multiple service calls, ensuring punctuality and realistic arrival windows. · Detail-Oriented Documentation: Diligently completing service reports, parts orders, and warranty paperwork accurately to ensure proper billing and history tracking. · Safety Consciousness: An unwavering commitment to following OH&S protocols, including electrical safety, ladder safety, and refrigerant handling. | |||
Physical Requirements of the Role | |||
· Mobility & Agility: Ability to perform frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling in various work environments. · Work at Heights: Proficient in the safe use of 3ft step ladders, as well as 6ft and 18ft extendable ladders. Comfort working on rooftops and within confined spaces (e.g., ceiling cavities). · Manual Handling: Capable of lifting up to 25kg independently. o Capable of performing team lifts for loads up to 100kg. | |||
Qualifications and Certification | |||
· Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Trade certification · CFC Qualification · OHS certification requirements (as required by various State legislation) · Current drivers licence · Restricted Electrical License · Refrigeration Handling License · Working with Children Card · Police Check · Defence Cleared Access Card (DCAC) · Australian Citizenship · QBBC Individual Mechanical Services Occupational License (QLD only) · White Card | |||
